We heard the sound of spiritual thunder. We didn’t know it at the time.
It was a sound I’d never heard before, the other two women didn’t recognize it either but we all heard it. It stopped our conversation, turned our attention, and caused us to peer out the window. One asks aloud the question, “What was that?” In the moment none of us had an answer. A flippant answer flashed through my mind like an inappropriate joke. Thankfully Wisdom’s been teaching me to keep my mouth shut.
We then returned to the reason for my visit, which was prayer at Hand of Hope.
It’s early morning, 12:49 am EST on March 11, 2021, to be exact. I awoke to the realization of the answer.
Spiritual thunder.
You see, a few minutes before we heard the sound, I had made a decision. But God and I were the only two who knew about it. To most generically and simply explain, the decision was between two root extremes. Am I going to be selfish or selfless? That’s the root of all our decisions, isn’t it?
I believe that decision was the lightning strike in the spirit realm that caused the thunder we’d heard just a few minutes later.
What did it sound like? Nothing I’d ever heard before.
