A Certain Young Man: Is that Me? Is that You?

The wonderful thing about Scripture is every time we read it, we can see something new. We will never get to the end of it, for it is a living book.

In reading Mark 14 this morning I noticed someone, a certain young man.  The passage that I want to highlight is verses 50-52. The scene is Jesus' betrayal in the garden of Gesthemene where Judas has betrayed him with a kiss. The guards have taken Jesus and all who followed him forsook him and fled.

Mark 14:50-52 (KJV) reads. "And they all forsook him, and fled. And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about [his]naked [body]; and the young men (guards) laid hold on him: And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked."

How many of us think we're clothed, but when we are faced with capture, in our own life and times, for following Christ, will flee naked?

Lord, Are there those of us who think we're clothed in Christ but are not? Are we naked? I pray Lord for all of us that fit this category, all the "a certain young man" people.

You alone know our hearts Lord. We can deceive ourselves, Father, as you well know.

Lord, Loose true repentance on us, help us consider our latter end and loose upon us the wisdom to see our nakedness and repent. Loose Your faith to believe the truth. Loose your courage to stand firm in Christ, all before it's too late. Loose Your Love, Mercy, and Grace upon us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, who leads and guides us into all truth. Thank you for the promise in 1 John 1:9 which says, If we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

In the Most Powerful Name which is above every name, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and by the power of His shed blood I submit this prayer unto you Triune God: ABBA Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and convicting Holy Spirit. Amen.
