Impeachment Vote Today

My thoughts on the impeachment vote today, Lord, have mercy on us.

Lord, protect President Trump. He’s got impurities in him, just like the rest of us. He’s also called by You, just like the rest of us. You equip him as you do each one called. You anoint each one as You see fit.

In John 8, just like the woman caught in adultery, when her accusers brought her before Jesus, Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the ground. And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, (This tells me they were not either reading what he said or they wanted the verbal communication. It was a trap to test him.) “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” Stoning was the punishment in the Law of Moses, the law they followed at the time. Jesus went back to writing on the ground. Being Omniscient, Jesus probably wrote the sins these folks had committed. Notice it was the older ones who went away first. More life experiences? More sins? More wisdom?

In the end Jesus is alone with the woman standing before him because all her accusers had left. They all had sin. Jesus is so gentle and merciful. Jesus remained and inquired, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” These are her first words to Jesus. By calling him Lord she confesses her belief in him. And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” John 8:11

I have not followed what’s been going on in Washington. I’ve stayed above the fray. My intercession, my prayers can be summed up in the Lord’s model for us to pray. “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10

In all of Matthew 6, all of Scripture actually, Jesus teaches us how to live. Every time I read Scripture I’m convicted. I confess. He cleanses me with His blood. We fellowship anew.

Jesus says to me the same thing he said to this woman. “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”

When I taught in the classroom. I didn’t teach, I modeled. Jesus taught us all, myself, the students, the visitors, the families.

Jesus still teaches today. He modeled. In listening to His Father, doing only what He saw his Father doing, he modeled for us what we’re to do. We are only to do what we hear Holy Spirit say to do.

Spend time with our Heavenly Father, praising and worshipping the Triune God. Praying is conversational, talking with Him and listening. He listens to every word spoken. He listens to what we think too. Only He can. Relationship — reconciliation — that’s what He wants.

I have been that accuser. I have been the hypocrite. I have been the one doing “good works” before men. I have been the one who drops the stone, turns, and walks away. I have been the woman, not adulterous. but fornicating. The accused woman. The sinful woman. I call him Lord as she did. I have heard him say, “Go, and sin no more.”

I have been so focused on other people’s sins, I’ve ignored my own. Jesus disciplines. I am not to judge. He’s got that role.

I pray for His mercy and grace. I pray for His kingdom to come. I pray for Wisdom to guide me, may she be found by us all. I pray I follow Jesus because those were His words when he called the disciples. “Follow Me.” Jesus said to Levi the tax collector in Luke 5:28.

After Jesus restores Peter he says, “Follow Me.” John 21:19. When Peter looks around and inquires with the question so many have asked, myself included, “Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” John 21:21-22

We’re each individually to be concerned with our own relationship with God. Jesus deals with each one, individually. World, we’ve got work to do. John 6:29 says, “Jesus answered them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.’” Believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth. That’s our work. Take Him at his Word.

John also wrote Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. At the end of Revelation, Jesus speaks again warning that he is coming soon. Time is a topic I won’t address in this post; perspective affects our understanding of it. I do know His word is true. I believe it. Do you? The following thoughts sober me; do they you?

Verse 11 of Revelation 22 says, “Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.” Then in verse 12 and 13 the ink is red, which means Jesus Christ said it. “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Recompense, a word not commonly used today, means compensation, a repayment or requital, a remuneration or reward, according to Dictionary.com.

Verse 14 and 15, in black ink again, say, “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.”

“The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” Rev. 22:17

Holy Spirit take over. Lead each of us. You know what’s needed. May God help us all.
